Speech
My speech topic is about kiwi
I chose this topic because our kiwi are dying.
When I presented my speech I felt nervous
What I did well I tried my best
What I could have done better was go a bit faster.
Speech Topic: kiwi
Why are we killing our kiwis? Kiwis are special because they are native birds of New Zealand. They help our trees and bush, they can’t fly and they come out at night. They are endangered and are being killed by people and predators. I believe we need to save our kiwi! Here are my 3 reasons why.
Firstly, kiwi eggs are getting eaten by predators. Predators such as possums, rats, stoats and weasels hurt the kiwi and take their eggs from their nests. We need to set traps to stop these predators and we will save more of our kiwi.
Secondly, pets are killing our kiwi too. They think a kiwi is a thing to play with and they catch them. So please look around your house for the Kiwi and make sure your pets don’t hurt them. Train your dogs to not hurt kiwi.
Finally, men are hunting kiwi so if you have a man that hunts kiwi tell him no. You can not. When kiwi crosses the road and a car comes with the lights on kiwi can get hit by the car. Please drive slowly at night in kiwi zones so you don’t hit a kiwi.
Kiwi are a special New Zealand icon so we need to take care of them. We don’t want our special bird to be extinct.
